The men (in 2315 women were forbidden to go into space because they were needed to keep Earth tidy while the men were out fighting monsters - after all there should be somewhere good to relax after a hard tour nuking bugs! It was estimated that 7 of 9 women did not want to go into space anyway ) will be based on any cheap figures you can find. There are some spacemen available but few can be used as they come - unless you pay a fortune which is against the ethos of this project.

RADIO MEN, FLAME THROWERS, OFFICERS, STANDING SHOOTERS, KNEELING SHOOTERS, HEAVY/MEDIUM MACHINE GUNS, BAZOOKAS ETC.
The best Army Men are BMC HERE and TIMMEE HERE.
BMC weapon set for conversions is HERE.
Originals are from the U.S, but copies can be found on AliExpress, cheap but inferior.
Army Men from the TOY STORY film are also available. More expensive but great quality. HERE
(There are some truly appalling Chinese-made Army Men. These cannot be converted because they are too spindly and look terrible anyway. However, one could build an entire race of humanoid aliens from them--here come the Skinnies ?)

There are also the AIRFIX 1/32 WWII and modern soldiers. These are great quality, have some wonderful poses and give a fantastic mix to create motley Verminators.
Best sets are WWII US INFANTRY, RUSSIAN INFANTRY, SAS.

Another great set is these Vietnam Marines.. The thumper men can become flamers, the M60 men can easily become HEMG men. And they are from Mars ..so already Sci Fi material!!
And the GIs from the same range.
Check the other sets from Mars. Gren Berets, ARVN etc. The sculpting and production is not perfect but there is a lot of scope for conversions here.
